Ester Lovsin Barle, Takeda

Ester Lovsin Barle is a certified toxicologist with over 18 years of experience in product sustainability and stewardship in the pharmaceutical industry. As the Global Head of Product Sustainability and Stewardship at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, she leads the Sustainability by Design for the Planet initiative, manages safety data sheets, ensures regulatory compliance, and implements health-based exposure limits for research, development, and manufacturing.

Her previous roles at Lonza and Novartis focused on health hazard assessment, occupational toxicology, and biosafety. Ester has authored or co-authored over 60 publications and lectured at various universities. She holds a PhD and master’s degree in veterinary sciences from the University of Ljubljana, a master’s in toxicology and risk assessment from the Medical University of Vienna, and a certification in environmental management for sustainability.
